Week 2 - The story continues

Hello again!! :)

Week two of my Oslove experience is already over. Time for some new information I'd say. Good news: Still alive. Bad news: Got a little cold and taking it slower for the moment.

I should update this blog every day, cause I experienced so much that I can barely remember what happened when at what time. So far my current life has been really sweet. It has been quiet a luxury to enjoy this beauty called Oslo the last two weeks without any obligations or studying. I substituted University obligations with museum visits, hiking trips, sport sessions, international dinners and ok...partying ;-) (not the reason for being sick, of course).

This friday is probably the most perfect example for this incredibly worry-free life. It started at 11.15am with a Zumba class with my friend Nina. I don't have to mention that I woke up by 9.30 and not a minute earlier :-). It was the most perfect course for a friday morning I'd say. Our male course instructor started of with the Venga Boys and every bit of tiredness flew away immedeately! Then I picked up 4 girfriends, Valeria, Simona, Joanna and Lorraine on campus and we went to see the big auditorium of the old and beautiful law faculty in order to have a look at quiet a few Munch paintings that are presented in it. I can really recommend to go there. My favorite painting was one named "Historien". A Norwegian fishermen is sitting at the Fjords recounting his memories to a fascinated little boy - which is supposed to transmit Norwegian history.

Afterwards we went to a free coffee hour at Chateau Neuf, a student house, and got tea, coffee and cookies. Since good cookies are so expensive here, our cooky plate was gone after not too long. Haha! Afterwards we went to Grönland to get some fresh fruits and vegetables and then we took off with a bunch of people to see a free movie screeing of a Charlie Chaplin's movie named "The kid" in St. Hanshaugen parc. I haven't seen a Charlie Chaplin's movie so far to be honest, but I enjoyed it a lot. I was really amazed by the actor that played the little boy, cause he was probably not older than ten years and was able to show various emotions on screen and definetly had some hilarious parts. By the end of the day we came to this small pub in Grynerlokka, where Norwegian people hang out and enjoy the 120 NOK for 3 beer offer and dance. It was actually really nice to go to a Norwegian pub instead of an Erasmus party, since I am sure there will be many more to come anyways. So all in all it was a lovely day!! For all people that are actually working out there every single day for 8 hours while I join the coffe hour and go to museums...don't get frustrated, I also had to face reality this monday when University started (later to that...). Other than that I had a wonderful saturday with a planned kayak trip that turned out to be a hiking trip cause we somehow got lost in the Norwegian woods...still, we went swimming and enjoyed one of those many sunny days Oslo offered us lately. We ended up with a big dinner at my friend's apartment. It's always funny, cause none of us has enough chairs, plates, or glasses that would be enough for 15 people. So whenever we meet up, you see students walking around at our Student Village randomly carrying chairs, glasses etc.. After noodles and rasberry dream, I'm pretty sure we all slept very well cause the 5 hour hiking trip was exhausting. I personally spent most of my sunday in bed to get some rest, cause I didn't want to miss my first class. Spontaneously I ended up in a jazz club with Simona though, which was not the original plan I guess. But after a sunday at home while all my friends were on the island or in the museum, I felt that I had to go out of bed for just a short while! We checked out the jazz club bla, and it was so nice!! We only stayed there for a short time, but I definetly wanna go there again next sunday. It was a really cozy club with good jazz music, and everyone was dancing to the music that was sometimes mixed with country or reggae elements. So nice!

When I woke up this morning, it seemed so weird that vacation should be over, cause wasn't I here for vacation? That's at least how I felt the last two weeks. But I have to admit that I was actually looking forward to monday when university started. I guess I am too much of a scheduled person in order to continue with this chaotic lifestyle for too long. I always need some portion of stress in order to function properly. Today I then realized, that somehow I kinda missed, that there was actually quiet some reading we were already supposed to do...Oooops! So, I guess that's Karma! I was wishing for some stress...now I got more than I wanted!! :-D At least it is interesting, right now I am reading my articles for the class "International Military Operations", my favorite class so far.

So this is what I am gonna do now, reducing my pile of papers! More to come soon! :-)

Hope you all had a great weekend and enjoy your summer!
